MAKÜ Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Offers International Opportunities to Students

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, after being accepted as a 'Fully Accredited Faculty' by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), students also started to reap the fruits of this success.

One of the students experiencing the advantage of the internationally accredited faculty is Nisa Sümertekin. Nisa Sümertekin, a student at MAKÜ Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has been awarded the Evidensia Student Travel Scholarship.


Benefiting from the experience of visiting an international Veterinary Medicine congress for students in veterinary faculties in Europe; aiming to introduce the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) and FECAVA activities early on, and organized by FECAVA and the International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA), Sümertekin, who won the Evidensia Student Travel Scholarship, became the only Turkish student among the 10 veterinary faculty students selected for the 48th World Small Animal Veterinary Association World Congress (FECAVA-WSAVA 2023) to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on September 27-29, 2023.

Expressing her happiness about winning the scholarship, Nisa Sümertekin said, “I managed to be among the students. It is very proud for me to participate in the congress as a delegate and represent my country and faculty. Besides, I am very happy to have the opportunity to meet many professionals from our profession.”

MAKÜ Student Will Take Part in the Accreditation Committee

Nisa Sümertekin from MAKÜ will also take part in the Accreditation Committee of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), which determines the education programs and standards of Veterinary Faculties in Europe, taking into account the European Union criteria, and prepares reports on infrastructure, equipment, and education standards by visiting the faculties upon their request, making supportive decisions in the countries included in the European Union and advisory decisions in other countries.

Sümertekin was also invited to be part of the Accreditation Committee for the equivalence visits of EAEVE, the official equivalence institution of Veterinary Medicine faculties in Europe, to be held at the University of Nottingham, England, on January 15-19, 2024.

Sümertekin emphasized that she is also very happy to have the opportunity to work with 10 professionals from 8 different countries.
